BEN Fry has been given the start ahead of Wales flanker Taine Basham for the Dragons’ bid for a United Rugby Championship double over the Scarlets tomorrow afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
Director of rugby Dean Ryan has made three changes to the XV from the 38-27 win in Llanelli last weekend.
Combative 23-year-old Fry gets the nod at openside, on-loan hooker Taylor Davies starts against his parent club after playing most of the game last week and Jordan Williams is back from illness at full-back.
Wales hooker Elliot Dee was forced off after three minutes at Parc y Scarlets because of a head injury but has been passed fit to be on the bench where he is joined fly-half Josh Lewis, who also went off early after a shoulder injury in a high hit by Jonathan Davies.
Basham will add energy as a replacement while young fly-half Will Reed and full-back David Richards are not selected because they will instead feature for Newport RFC in Sunday’s Premiership Cup final at Principality Stadium.
Ioan Davies comes in to provide the back three cover.
Dragons: J Williams; Dyer, Warren, Dixon, Rosser; S Davies, Bertranou; Seiuli, T Davies, Brown, Carter, Rowlands, Keddie (captain), Fry, Wainwright.
Replacements: Dee, Reynolds, Coleman, J Davies, Basham, R Williams, Lewis, I Davies.
