NEWBRIDGE RFC are gunning for glory in four finals this weekend.

On Saturday the under-16s take on Risca at Pontypool Park in the Dragons Cup final (kick-off 3pm) while the seniors face a big test against Bedwas in the Ben Francis Cup final at Blackwood's Glan yr Afon Park (kick-off 3.15pm).

'Bridge had an unbeaten season in Division One East while their opponents were fourth in the Championship.

Pigs supporters doesn't need to choose between finals on Sunday with the under-12s facing Caerleon in the Dragons Plate final (kick-off 10am) before the Youth District Cup final against Machen in Blackwood (3pm), with the Newbridge team fresh from winning the Dragons League with only one loss.

"It's certainly been a proud year for the club," said 'Bridge director of rugby Dafydd Lloyd. "After Covid you wondered who would come back and stay in the game and who would have left after finding different interests or sports.

"Team managers and coaches worked immensely hard through the Covid period to keep their players engaged in the sport and now we are seeing the rewards.

"It's fantastic to have four teams in the finals this season but the real success in the number of teams we have kept going all in our 50th anniversary year of mini and junior rugby at the club."
