NEWPORT County AFC defender Harrison Bright has been named in the Wales Under-18s squad for a tournament in Croatia.

The 18-year-old from Blaenavon has been named in the 22-strong squad for friendly clashes with the hosts on Tuesday, June 7 and then England and Austria.

The fixtures in Lucko and Zagreb will prepare Rob Edwards' squad for next season's UEFA 19 qualifying round, which will be hosted by Wales.

They have been drawn against the Republic of Ireland, Hungary and Gibraltar with matches taking place in September.

Right-back Bright made his Football League debut in County's last game of the season against Rochdale at Rodney Parade.

The defender had previously played in the EFL Trophy and was an unused substitute against Bristol Rovers, Stevenage and Bradford before his chance came on home soil.

Bright, goalkeeper Evan Ovendale and midfielder Jack Karadogan signed their first professional deals at the end of the campaign.
