NEWPORT County AFC will learn cup opposition as well as their League Two fixture schedule next week.

The Exiles know their 23 rivals in the fourth tier and will discover the order that they will play them in at 9am on Thursday, with the campaign getting under way on July 30.

James Rowberry's side will then discover their EFL Trophy group stage opponents at 11.30am with a draw for the competition, which is split into norther and southern sections, taking place live on Sky Sports News.

"The 16 invited U21 teams will be drawn into their respective Northern and Southern section Groups, with the 48 EFL Clubs already placed into pre-determined Groups prior to the draw," said an EFL statement.

"Consideration has been given to ensure travel time is minimised and recovery time is maximised for players."

EFL clubs will play two of their three fixtures at home in the group stages.

The League Cup draw will take place on the same channel at 2.30pm with fixtures taking place on the week of August 8.

Burnley and Watford will join their former Premier League rivals who are not in European competition in round two with Norwich, who finished bottom of the top flight last season, in the tournament from the off.
