DRAGONS scrum-half Gonzalo Bertranou has been named on the Argentina bench for Saturday’s first Test against Scotland.
The 28-year-old was initially selected in an Argentina XV squad for a pair of European fixtures against Georgia and Portugal but will now add to his tally of 36 caps.
Bertranou has been picked by new Pumas coach Michael Cheika as back-up for Tomas Cubelli in the clash against the Scots in San Salvador de Jujuy (kick-off 8.10pm).
The nations meet three times before Argentina face South Africa, Australia and New Zealand in August and September in the Rugby Championship.
If selected for that tournament then Bertranou is likely to miss the opening rounds of the Dragons’ United Rugby Championship campaign with Rhodri Williams and Lewis Jones his rivals for the 9 jersey.
