NEWPORT County AFC have completed their new-look front line by signing powerful striker Omar Bogle.

The Exiles have agreed an undisclosed fee with League Two rivals Hartlepool to make their well-travelled 29-year-old their eighth summer recruit.

County manager James Rowberry worked with Bogle at Cardiff City and feels he is a good fit up front, where he will battle for starts with Lewis Collins and fellow new signings Offrande Zanzala (Barrow), Chanka Zimba (Cardiff, loan) and Will Evans (Bala).

The boss said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Omar to Newport County AFC, with myself and Carl [Serrant, assistant manager] having worked with him previously, we know what he can bring to the team.

“It’s another exciting signing for us and I would like to thank [chairman] Gavin Foxall, [director] Pete Madigan and [sporting director] Darren Kelly for the work they have put into this.”

Bogle moved to Hartlepool from Doncaster in January on a deal until 2024 and made a big initial impact in the north east of England.

However, Paul Hartley has taken over as Pools boss and has agreed to let the striker move on to reinforce his squad.

Bogle played in the lower leagues until making a big impact at Grimsby to fire the Mariners to League Two in 2016, scoring 32 goals in 68 games for the club.

The following year he moved to Wigan and earned a big-money move to Cardiff. He produced some flashes for the Bluebirds but had loan spells at Peterborough, Birmingham, Portsmouth and ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands.

His CV grew with Charlton, Doncaster and Hartlepool but County will hope he settles in Newport.

Bogle follows centre-back Declan Drysale (Coventry), left-back Adam Lewis (Liverpool, loan), midfielders Sam Bowen (Cardiff) and Aaron Wildig (Morecambe) plus strikers Evans, Zimba and Zanzala through the door at Rodney Parade.
