NEWPORT County AFC netted not one, but two 3-0 victories in a pair of pre-season friendly matches this afternoon.

The Exiles took on Hungerford Town in two 60-minute fixtures, held behind closed doors at Newport’s Dragon Park on Saturday, with two completely different squads running out for the two matches, giving plenty of players the chance for some pitch time.

The first clash saw James Clarke, Will Evans and Chanka Zimba hit the back of the net, scoring in the eighth, 49th and 55th minutes respectively.

A chance for Aaron Wildig at 45 minutes was denied when he was fouled on the edge of the box. Matt Dolan took the free kick, bit it was deflected wide.

The second match saw Jack Karadogan get on the scoresheet after just five minutes, followed by James Waite just seven minutes later. Omar Bogle got the third goal of the match in the 48th minute.

Game One XI: Nick Townsend; James Clarke; Matt Dolan (C); Joe Woodiwiss; Aaron Lewis; Sam Bowen; Robbie Willmott; Aaron Wildig; Will Evans; Chanka Zimba; Lewis Collins (Lewys Twamley '50).

Game Two XI: Joe Day; Harrison Bright; Declan Drysdale; Mickey Demetriou (C); Cameron Norman; Scot Bennett; Jack Karadogan; James Waite; Adam Lewis; Omar Bogle (Kiban Rai '49); Offrande Zanzala.

The Exiles will next be in action on Tuesday, July 12, when they travel to Cardiff City's International Sports Stadium, where they will take on the Bluebirds, again in two 60-minute matches.

The team will travel to Weston-Super-Mare on Friday, June 15, and Torquay the following day, and will conclude its programme of pre-season friendlies on Saturday, July 23, with a trip to Forest Green Rovers.
