TWO Torfaen youngsters have been snapped up to play for Bristol Rovers.

Iolo Jones and Morgan Winstone both play for Cwmbran Celtic under-nines and, from next season, will be turning out for the Rovers under-nine side.

The seven-year-olds have been training at the club's centre of excellence for the past year and are delighted to take another step on the ladder towards a professional football career.

Jones, from Upper Cwmbran, has been playing for Cwmbran Celtic since he was three, while Winstone previously played for Penygarn and Trevethin.

Parents Neil and Rachel Jones and Gareth and Clare Winstone are very proud of their sons' achievements.

"We are chuffed to bits, they have both showed good promise," said Mr Winstone.

"We are keeping very realistic," said Mr Jones.

"It's a long way to becoming professional footballers but this is the best possible start."

Left winger Winstone and right-back Jones will train twice a week in Bristol and play matches at weekends and their parents have praised the club's organisation.

"The club has superb facilities and the coaching is fantastic," said Mr Jones.

"We are very proud and very pleased that they are enjoying their football," he added.
