NEWPORT YMCA manager Mark Coldrick admits his side are "living the dream" as they prepare for tomorrow's Welsh Cup quarter-final against Welsh Premier League side Welshpool Town (kick-off 2.30pm).

The MacWhirter Welsh League Division One outfit are just three games from Europe and, having already beaten WPL sides Carmarthen Town and Llangefni, they're quietly confident of causing another upset.

"It's a great adventure and we just hope it continues," said Coldrick.

"This game is massive and everyone at the club is really looking forward to it - we're all on a high.

"We won't underestimate Welshpool. We know they will be well organised and if we had to play them week-in week-out, we'd probably fail but in a one-off game we've proved we can beat the premier sides.

"I don't want the players to worry about them so much," he added. "We'll concentrate on what we have to do and make sure everyone is on top of their game."

YM have been in excellent form of late, winning 10 of their last 14 matches in all competitions. They celebrated a 2-0 victory over Cwmbran Town last Saturday leaving them eighth in the table after a poor start to the season.

Coldrick claims the league is his priority but admits the fantastic cup run has been the impetus for their revival.

"We're living the dream," he said. "The lads and the backroom boys are all buzzing about this match and there's no doubt that the cup has helped us in the league.

"We've been in brilliant form and it's given us a lot of confidence so we can't wait to take on Welshpool."

Coldrick welcomes back influential skipper John Pardue to central midfield after he missed the win over Cwmbran through suspension.

He has to decide between Alex Stewart and Steve Edwards to partner Pardue in the middle of the park after both scored against the Crows.

The only injury worry is over Junior Borg, son of Newport boxing trainer Tony Borg. He's recovering from a broken toe and also suffering from an ankle knock but is expected to declare himself fit to add some punch to the right side of midfield.
