THERE'S more than just local bragging rights on offer for the winners of tomorrow's Gwent derby between hosts Croesyceiliog and Caerleon.

Both clubs will be desperate for victory at Woodland Road - the home side to climb away from the MacWhirter Welsh League Division One relegation zone and the visitors towards their bid to end the season as the county's highest-placed club.

Croesyceiliog are just one position and only two points off the danger area while a Caerleon win will see them trail eighth-placed Newport YMCA on goal difference only with 14 matches remaining.

For Croesyceiliog, it's three out and as many returning. Mike Dewar (4th of 4), Chris Watkins (2nd of 2) and Daniel Clouth (2nd of 3) are all suspended while Jodi Jenkins, Ross Bristow and Carl Evans return to the squad.

A hamstring strain continues to sideline Caerleon skipper Martyn Phillips, although Todd Quarterly has recovered from a similar injury and Josh Collins has served a three-match ban.

An horrendous run of gaining just eight points from the last 42 has seen Cwmbran Town plummet from top to11th and they face a tough task to gain anything from a home game against a fifth-placed Bryntirion Athletic side managed by former Crows striker Francis Ford.

And it could be even tougher for the Crows if goalkeeper Richard Jefferies fails to shake off an ankle injury, especially considering Bryntirion beat bottom-placed Garw Athletic 9-0 on Wednesday.

After flirting with relegation, Caldicot Town have elevated themselves to 12th and will seek to continue their improvement against visiting Bridgend Town, who are 10th.

Manager Jason Pritchard reports Peter Little and Jacob Guy are unavailable because of work commitments and holiday respectively, but that Jason Thorne, Kel Stevens and Richard Sharratt all make squad returns.

In Division Two, Llanwern won 4-2 at home against Tredegar Town on Wednesday. However neither are in action while a Cwmbran Celtic win at Pontyclun will push them above Llanwern.

Celtic will be minus Luke Sallis only, the teenager picking up an injury in last Sunday's 3-0 away Welsh Cup quarter-final victory over Ruthin Town.

Risca United are eighth in Division Three and can improve their lot by winning at Llantwit Fadre, the team immediately above them, while the all-Gwent affair between Goytre and Aberbargoed Buds could see the visitors leapfrog their hosts with victory.

However if the Buds slip up, Monmouth Town can move above them should they see off visiting Merthyr Saints.

Risca are without long-term injured striker Andrew Gay while the Buds and Gotyre will both be missing key players for their clash.

Buds are unable to call up defender Mike Simmons or midfielder Ross Mazurczak because of injuries while Gotyre are definitely minus Lee Waddon (hamstring) and full back Darren Haines (eye) and have a doubt over Waddon's central defensive partner Dean Taylor, who picked up a wrist injury in training this week.

Monmouth skipper and midfielder Justin Harris is out because of a one-game suspension and the Kingfishers will also be missing Aaron Davies, who has a torn hamstring.

At the very bottom, Abertillery Excelsiors have played one, four and five games more than the trio of teams above them and victory over one of their rivals, visiting Severn Sisters, is simply an absolute must.

However they will be minus unavailable centre back Anthony Phillips and striker Andrew Lester, who must sit out the game because of a one-match ban issued for five bookings.
