ROCHDALE closed the gap on Newport County AFC in League Two on Tuesday night but there was late anguish for strugglers Harrogate.

The 18th-placed Exiles are now a point above Dale after Ian Henderson’s second-half strike earned a 1-0 win against Salford.

The striker nodded the winner in the 80th minute to become the club’s all-time leading scorer with 130 goals.

Harrogate had to settle for a point that lifts them out of the drop zone after a late Owen Moxon goal earned Carlisle a 3-3 draw in Yorkshire.

The Blues went in front when Taylor Charters scored from distance, but Luke Armstrong drew level for Harrogate.

Carlisle retook the lead five minutes after the break through Ryan Edmondson but the Sulphurites came from behind again when Warren Burrell pulled one back for Simon Weaver’s side on the hour.

Harrogate took the lead for the first time with quarter of an hour to go when Jaheim Headley scored but Moxon snatched a point for the Blues deep into stoppage time.

Ayoub Assal and Harry Pell were on target as AFC Wimbledon stunned leaders Leyton Orient 2-0.

Assal opened the scoring with a deflected shot after 19 minutes and it was his blocked effort that fell to Pell to double the lead 10 minutes before the break.

Despite the loss, Orient remain top of the table, with Stevenage three points back in second.

Ten-man Bradford managed to hold on and beat Mansfield 2-1 to move up to fifth in the table.

Richard Smallwood and Andy Cook scored for the Bantams but they went a man down when Matthew Platt picked up a second yellow card with 25 minutes still to play.

Will Swan pulled one back for the Stags but the visitors were able to see the game out to earn their first win in four in the league.
