NEWPORT County AFC have postponed their League Two fixture against Harrogate Town because of international call-ups.

The Exiles were scheduled to host the Yorkshire side next Saturday (kick-off 3pm) but they would have been without three players.

On-loan Stoke City defender Matt Baker has been called up by Wales Under-21s for their friendly against Scotland.

Back-up goalkeeper Nick Townsend and midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh are heading off for CONCACAF Nations League games with Antigua and Barbuda and Guyana respectively.

As reported in the Argus yesterday, the management were assessing the fitness of their squad before making a call and they have opted to postpone the fixture with a new date of Tuesday, April 25 (kick-off 7.45pm).

"Tickets purchased for the original fixture, will be able to be used for the rearranged date," read a club statement.

County now host Harrogate in between trips to Doncaster and Gillingham and will hope to be mathematically safe by then.

Graham Coughlan's side are 18th in the table and 10 points ahead of Hartlepool, who are in the last safe spot. Crawley are a point further back but with two games in hand while bottom club Rochdale look doomed.

Harrogate are just six points above Crawley and have played two games more.

County travel to Tranmere this weekend and then have a fortnight off to prepare for the run-in, which starts with an away game at Colchester on Saturday, April 1.

Moriah-Welsh could struggle to make that fixture, at least as a starter, as he faces Montserrat on the Wednesday before the trip to Essex.
