IN-FORM Newport County AFC striker Omar Bogle missed out on the League Two player of the month award despite scoring six goals.

The judging panel opted for Bradford City striker Andy Cook after he fired the Bantams to the brink of the play-offs with five goals and two assists.

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “It’s hard to overstate Cook’s importance to Bradford this season, with 35 goal involvements second to only Erling Haaland among players in England’s top four tiers.

“The Bantams look destined for the play-offs and will be a team to be feared, so a huge amount of credit must go Cook’s way for that, and indeed Mark Hughes’ for providing an atmosphere that has allowed him to flourish.”

Bogle, who signed from Hartlepool on a two-year contract last summer, was nominated after spearheading County’s bid for a top-half finish.

He took his tally for the campaign to 17 with strikes against Northampton (2), Hartlepool, Harrogate (2) and Gillingham, while he also notched assists against the Cobblers and Doncaster in eight matches in April.

Stockport centre-back Chris Hussey and Harrogate striker Luke Armstrong were the others on the shortlist.

Meanwhile, manager of the month went to Steve Evans after he led Stevenage to promotion.

Stevenage lost just once in eight games as they gained 15 points to seal their passage to League One.
