NEWPORT County AFC have recalled defender Harrison Bright from a loan spell at Barry Town United.

The 19-year-old from Blaenavon made a brief substitute appearance for the Exiles in the Carabao Cup win over Charlton Athletic before heading for another taste of Cymru Premier action.

The right-back, who spent the second half of last season with Pontypridd United, made 15 appearances for Barry in the league and three in the Welsh Cup.

He played in the Boxing Day loss at Haverfordwest County but has now been recalled by County, who have Shane McLoughlin and Southampton loanee as their options down the right.

Whether this means the defender will get first team chances or whether he goes out for another loan is yet to be seen and could depend on January transfer activity.

Bright made his League Two debut under James Rowberry off the bench against Rochdale in the final game of 2021/22.

The defender and County triggered a one-year contract extension last summer after he featured for Coughlan in the Carabao Cup at Leicester City, then of the Premier League, and at MK Dons in the last 32 of the EFL Trophy before heading to Ponty.
