NEWPORT County AFC will hope to have a clean bill of health at 5pm in Doncaster, plus potentially a pair of players closer to full sharpness.

The Exiles are in League Two action against the Rovers before they can fully concentrate on earning a shot at Manchester United in the FA Cup.

It will be a relief if all come through unscathed for Tuesday’s trip to Eastleigh, particularly the core of key figures.

Midfielder Bryn Morris and Scot Bennett, full-back/midfielder Shane McLoughlin and forward Will Evans have played in every League Two game, captain and centre-back Ryan Delaney missed one through suspension and Nick Townsend has been in goal for 24 of 26 fixtures.

It would be a huge blow if any of them – or centre-backs Matt Baker and James Clarke plus striker Seb Palmer-Houlden – are ruled out of the clash with the Spitfires.

In truth Graham Coughlan hasn’t got as many selection headaches as he would like but a pair of potential starters are on the comeback trail.

"We got Adam Lewis and Aaron Wildig through a 60-minute game on Tuesday behind closed doors,” said the manager.

"I am looking at getting Adam some minutes but how we do that, I don't know. We have three games in a week coming up and have to get him up to speed.

"We don't have the luxury of reserve games so getting minutes on the training ground, in games and matches, we will have to do it on the run."

Lewis, whose last start was at the end of September, because of a quad problem, adds balance to the side down the left.

Wildig, who missed the festive period with illness after starting in Wrexham on December 23, adds guile in midfield.

Coughlan will be keen to have as many options as possible for Doncaster, Eastleigh, Wrexham and then, hopefully, Manchester United.
