NEWPORT County AFC are putting a temporary stand up for the mouth-watering FA Cup clash with Manchester United – and it will be up to boost the capacity for Saturday’s game against Wrexham.

The Exiles earned a shot at the Red Devils by beating Eastleigh 3-1 in a third round replay on Tuesday night and swiftly announced ticket details for the tie in Newport on Sunday, January 28 (kick-off 4.30pm, live on BBC One).

On Wednesday tickets for the previously sold-out Wrexham game on Saturday will go on general sale - the new stand on the North Terrace will boost the capacity by 1,000.

"While the additional ticket sales will only just cover the costs of erecting the stand for the two games, the club felt it was important to offer as many people as possible from the local community the opportunity to sample big game football at Rodney Parade – and help build momentum for the future," read a club statement.

"The club is also adding an additional 400 seats to the away stand to meet the FA’s allocation guidelines for the Manchester United tie.

"The seats will remain in place for the League Two games against Wrexham, Swindon and Notts County to cover costs."
