NEWPORT County AFC are looking up in League Two after they gave Manchester United a scare in the FA Cup.
The Exiles are done for cup football for 2023/24 and have 18 games left of the regular season, and potentially two or three more if things go ridiculously well.
County sit 16th in League Two, 16 points above the relegation zone and two points off the top half.
The play-offs are seven points away - possible?
Graham Coughlan’s men were on a seven-game unbeaten run before being edged out by United and will look to start another streak when Swindon head to town on Saturday (kick-off 12.45pm).
County should be buoyed by their exploits against the Red Devils and the class of 2024 will aim to avoid any cup hangover.
The Exiles are no strangers to big FA Cup ties, but how have they fared after them?
2017/18
The 2-1 win over Leeds was followed by a 2-1 success at Grimsby, then a 2-1 win against Crawley and draw with Morecambe.
The home draw against Tottenham was followed by defeats at Lincoln and Colchester.
The replay loss to Spurs at Wembley was followed by 5-0 defeat at Mansfield and three draws on the spin.
After being knocked out: LDDDWD.
2018/19
The 2-1 win against Leicester was followed by a 3-2 defeat at Crewe, when hit by a late double by the hosts.
County got back on track with a 1-0 win against Exeter before drawing at Middlesbrough in the cup.
A draw at Port Vale and defeat at Grimsby was followed by the 2-0 triumph against Boro to earn a shot at Manchester City.
County headed into the game against Pep Guardiola's men after a 1-0 defeat to MK Dons but went from pushing the Premier League side hard by hammering Notts County 4-1 at Meadow Lane, with the season ultimately ending in Wembley heartbreak against Tranmere.
After being knocked out: WLWLLW.
2020/21
County pushed Brighton all the way behind closed doors at Rodney Parade during Covid, losing on penalties to the Premier League side.
Michael Flynn’s side then endured a run of just one win in eight games as their push for automatic promotion went wrong.
That was down the deterioration of the Rodney Parade pitch - planned renovation was delayed because of the pandemic - and the loss of Scott Twine and Brandon Cooper more than a cup hangover.
The Exiles recovered but suffered another dose of Wembley play-off anguish.
After being knocked out: DDLLWL.
