FORMER Newport County AFC striker Aaron Collins will hunt promotion to the Championship with Bolton after moving from Bristol Rovers on deadline day.

The 26-year-old will join Wales midfielder and ex-Exile Josh Sheehan at Wanderers, who are second in League One.

Bolton have paid an undisclosed fee – reported to be in the region of £750,000 – to sign the rapid forward after an impressive couple of seasons for the Gas, who he joined from Forest Green Rovers.

Collins, older brother of fellow County academy graduate and now Torquay striker Lewis, scored 35 league goals in 118 appearances in Bristol.

“We're really excited to have him. He is a very, very good player and brings something slightly different to what we already have,” said Bolton boss Ian Evatt.

“We wanted somebody who we feel will make an impact now, but also have an impact in the future.”

Collins came through the ranks at County, making his EFL debut in 2015, before earning a move to Wolves. He returned to Rodney Parade for a spell on loan in 2018.
