WINGER Oli Andrew will make his Dragons debut in the United Rugby Championship game at Glasgow.

The Rodney Parade club are stretched to the limit for the trip to the third-placed Warriors (kick-off 7.35pm), who hammered them 73-33 at Scotstoun in the Challenge Cup last season.

Dai Flanagan is without Wales internationals Rio Dyer, Elliot Dee, Leon Brown, Aaron Wainwright and Taine Basham because of the Six Nations and has a crippling 15-strong injury list.

That leads to an opportunity for Andrew to make his competitive debut at Scotstoun Stadium, where he scored for Wales Under-20s last year, after he featured in pre-season.

The 20-year-old has scored 21 tries in 28 games for Newport RFC and he could be joined in making a Dragons bow by Sam Scarfe.

The list of back-row absentees means that the former Wales Under-20s forward, who has been playing for Pontypool, is one of three hookers in the matchday squad.

Starting hooker James Benjamin would be most likely to drop back if needed as he has been converted from the back row.

Blindside Dan Lydiate slots in at number eight with Sean Lonsdale at 6 and George Young making his first Dragons start at openside.

Angus O’Brien makes a welcome return from a broken arm suffered at Munster in November and he gets the nod at 10 with Cai Evans released from Wales duty to get game time at full-back.

Former Glasgow prop Aki Seiuli will be made to feel old by those alongside him on the bench – the 31-year-old Samoa loosehead is the only one over 23.

Newport RFC lock Barny Langton-Cryer is in line for a second Dragons outing after making his debut at Munster while scrum-half Che Hope features for the first time in 2023/24.
