CWMBRAN Celtic's Alex Bonthron will try to win the Cymru South golden boot in the final round of fixtures on Saturday.

Bonthron struck twice for Celtic in their 4-1 win over Trefelin in Taffs Well on Wednesday night, Lewis Iles also on the scoresheet after an own goal opener.

The striker took his tally to 28 and is one behind Briton Ferry Llansawel's Luke Bowen, and the champions have played all their fixtures.

Cwmbran finish the season with a fixture against Goytre United. Not only will Bonthron aim to get at least one goal but, more importantly, Celtic will want to send boss James Kinsella off with a win.

Relegated Abergavenny Town and Abertillery Bluebirds play their final fixtures before dropping down to Ardal SE against Caerau Ely and Afan Lido.

Pontardawe look set to join them in dropping out of Cymru South after a 3-0 loss to Cambrian & Clydach on Wednesday.

That leaves them three points behind both Llantwit Major and Taffs Well.

Goal difference means that Taffs Well (-3) are safe and Pontardawe (-19) would need a good swing to overtake Llantwit Major (-13).

There are still plenty of games to be played in the Ardal SE with promotion-chasing Newport City not in league action this weekend.

They are instead chasing glory in the final of the FAW Amateur Trophy when they lock horns with Penrhyncoch in Newtown (kick-off 12.30pm).

Leaders Trethomas Bluebirds, who look set for automatic promotion, don't have a fixture this weekend.
