CWMBRAN Celtic’s Alex Bonthron and Lewis Iles will feature for South Wales against the North in a two-leg clash next month.

The Tim Rhanbarthol Cymru squads have been confirmed ahead of their UEFA Regions’ Cup play-off matches.

The two sides will meet in a pair of games next month for the right to represent Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru in the intermediate round of the 2024/25 UEFA Regions’ Cup.

The first leg will take place at Denbigh Town’s Central Park on Saturday before the second leg at Ynys Park in Trefelin on Sunday, May 12 (both kick-offs 2.30pm).

To be selected, players must never have signed a professional contract and never have played a single minute in any top-flight league. They must be at least 19 years old and no older than 40.

Players do not need to be Welsh but must have been registered in their region for a period of at least two years.

Players from nine JD Cymru South clubs feature in Andy Hill’s South Wales squad, with Caerau Ely having the most players called up (three) following their impressive fifth-place finish in 2023/24 – Jack Turner, Joe Shephard and captain Jack Ashford.

Bonthron, who scored 30 times to win the Cymru South golden boot and also provided 10 assists, is rewarded with a place in the squad alongside Celtic teammate Iles, who scored 10 in the league and set up four.

Hill calls up two of his Trefelin team – Thomas Krauze and teenager Roan Piper.

Llanelli Town pushed Briton Ferry Llansawel all the way in the JD Cymru South title race this season and two of their players, Josh Allen and Jamie Baker, earn call-ups.

In addition, two players from the third tier feature in the squad as Canton goalkeeper Suleimane Susso and Swansea University defender Noah Osborne are rewarded for their performances in the Ardal South West this season.
