NEWPORT County AFC have hit double figures for summer signings after bringing in promising midfielder Cameron Antwi from Cardiff City.
The 22-year-old has made the short trip to Rodney Parade from the capital after signing a two-year contract, with the Exiles paying a compensation fee.
Antwi came through at Fulham before a move to Blackpool in 2019 – making a pair of League One outings for the Seasiders – and having spells on loan at Telford United and Southport.
The midfielder caught the eye of the Bluebirds and featured prominently for the under-21s before making his first-team debut in the FA Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last season.
County have agreed terms with Cardiff and Antwi for the midfielder to become the latest up-and-coming prospect to join the squad.
“It’s been a long time coming as we’ve been in talks for while, but I’m delighted to finally get everything over the line.
“When I spoke to everyone at Newport, I knew this was the right club for me. The plan going forward, the style of play, everything was an attraction.
“I feel like I’m 100 percent ready to make the first team step-up on a regular basis. I feel Newport will give me the platform to do that.
“They’ve given me the green light to come here and now it’s about showing them what I can do.
“I’m quite an all-rounded player. I can attack, defend and score goals. I also like to assist as well, and I think the fans can expect a lot from me."
Pearler from Cameron Antwi. Shame he missed so much football with that injury, but a reminder there’s some talent there 👇🏻 pic.twitter.com/2JYwTxKY0X

The Exiles have had a busy recruitment drive despite not yet having a head coach in place after the departure of manager Graham Coughlan.
Owner Huw Jenkins has led the transfer moves with an emphasis on young talent with resale value, with recruits arriving on two-year contracts.
Ninth signing Courtney Baker-Richardson became the first player over the age of 24 to arrive when the hard-working forward agreed a second spell at the club.
County have also brought in goalkeeper Jacob Carney, right-back Joe Thomas, centre-back Ciaran Brennan, defender/midfielder Matt Baker, left-back Anthony Glennon, midfielder Kai Whitmore, winger Michael Spellman and attacker Oliver Greaves.
Jenkins has also appointed Nelson Jardim, formerly of Swansea and Birmingham, as lead coach to start work on a new style before the head coach takes over the reins.
