DONCASTER moved to the top of League Two with a 1-0 victory over previous pacesetters Gillingham, Billy Sharp volleying home the only goal of the game in the 30th minute.
The most dramatic game of a day which produced a total of six red cards came at Barrow, where the home side led Swindon through Ged Garner’s goal before goalkeeper Paul Farman was sent off for handling the ball outside the box.
With no substitute goalkeeper on the bench, defender Rory Feely was sent on to wear the gloves and looked set to be the hero before Daniel Butterworth’s equaliser in the eighth minute of added time.
Swindon’s Harry Smith had earlier been sent off following an off-the-ball incident in the penalty area.
Notts County maintained their unbeaten start to the season thanks to a David McGoldrick brace at home to Accrington, while Tom Bradbury’s stoppage-time header sealed a dramatic 1-0 home win for Cheltenham against Harrogate.
Andy Cook scored both goals for Bradford as they beat Carlisle 2-1, with goalkeeper Sam Walker a relieved man after spilling Harrison Neal’s deflected effort over the line to gift the visitors an equaliser.
Ten-man Chesterfield survived the dismissal of Darren Oldaker to beat Grimsby 2-1 thanks to goals from James Berry and Dilan Markanday.
Charles Vernam pulled a goal back for the visitors with a thumping finish before Oldaker was sent off for a second bookable offence midway through the second half.
A 60th-minute equaliser from Owura Edwards earned Colchester a point at home to Bromley, who had taken a first-half lead through Michael Cheek’s penalty.
Besart Topalloj was sent off for the visitors in the sixth minute of added time.
Morecambe remain bottom of the table and without a point this season after a 1-0 defeat at Crewe, where Kane Hemmings scored the winner from the penalty spot two minutes before half-time.
Walsall slipped from second to sixth after they lost 1-0 at MK Dons, Callum Hendry scoring the only goal after 18 minutes.
