NEWPORT'S rugby team Dragons RFC have confirmed the continuation of their eco-partnership for the upcoming season.
Dragons RFC's team are delighted to announce the continuation of their partnership with Pledgeball for the upcoming season, marking the second year of their collaboration.
As a club, they have consistently looked to demonstrate a commitment to Protect Where We Play - to environmental sustainability, a dedication recognised last year when they won the WSA Sustainability Award.
This prestigious accolade underscores their leadership in driving environmental initiatives within the rugby community and beyond.
Throughout the partnership, Pledgeball has helped Dragons RFC to engage fans, players, and the wider community in meaningful actions to reduce environmental impact.
By leveraging the club’s supporters' collective power, they have raised awareness about crucial sustainability issues and inspired tangible change.
As they move into this new season, the team are excited to build on the momentum they've already created with Pledgeball, continuing to support the club's mission to protect our environment.
Katie Cross, CEO of Pledgeball, commented on the ongoing partnership, “Dragons RFC has set a remarkable example of what can be achieved when a sports club fully commits to sustainability.
“Their dedication has not only earned them well-deserved recognition but has also made a significant impact, through both fans collective efforts to reduce emissions and in influencing sports clubs across Wales.
“We are thrilled to be working with them again this season and look forward to seeing them continuing to drive such positive change.”
David Watts, Commercial Executive and Sustainability Lead at Dragons RFC, said both parties were committed to making a lasting difference, ensuring that Protecting Where We Play remains at the heart of everything we do.
He said: “We were delighted with our partnership last season with Pledgeball and thrilled that we now can continue that into the 2024/25 campaign.
"Through Pledgeball, we have empowered our fans to engage with sustainability in a simple and enjoyable way.
“As we prepare for our first Eco Dragons game with Ospreys, we are looking forward to the unwavering support of our fans as we collectively strive to make a positive impact. It is a privilege to be the first Welsh club to embark on his journey towards sustainability with Pledgeball.
“A huge thank you to Katie Cross or her pivotal role in bringing the partnership to life.
“Pledgeball has given our fans the platform to take a stand on sustainability in a really simple and fun way.
“We now look forward to our first Eco Dragons game with Ospreys and seeing how our fans continue to get involved and help us make a difference.”
