EBBW Vale were left to lament missed opportunities after a pointless trip to Cardiff in Super Rygbi Cymru.
The Blue and Blacks won 29-12 at the Arms Park and scored their fourth try with the clock in the red to claim a pair of bonuses for a six-point haul.
Ebbw, who beat Aberavon at Eugene Cross Park on opening weekend, will feel that they should have left the capital with something to show for their efforts but they lacked a cutting edge in the 22 when the game was in the balance.
The Steelmen played into a strong wind in the first half and would have been content with the opening exchanges.
They had an early escape when Wales Under-20s centre Steffan Emanuel's body was over the side line as he touched down after kicking on a loose ball.
The first score came in the 15th minute when Josh Thomas knocked over a penalty for the hosts and it swiftly became 10-0 with hooker Efan Daniel going over from Cardiff's impressive driving lineout.
It was 17-0 when Cardiff worked an overlap down the left and then wing Dewi Cross stepped last man and opposite number Hamish Anderson before reaching over.
Ebbw needed to score first after the restart and they did just that through brute force with hard carries ending in hooker Ieuan Morris shunting over in the 47th minute.
Evan Lloyd converted but the Steelmen then shipped seven points immediately after a dashing counter sparked by back rower Tom Rice and ended by Cross.
Ebbw, who brought on experience from the bench, stayed in the fight with Lewis Young at the bottom of a driving lineout with 55 minutes on the clock, with the score remaining at 24-12 after Lloyd pulled his conversion.
An immediate chance to make it a one-score game went begging when a penalty was kicked to five metres out but Cardiff disrupted.
The Steelmen had another chance to strike with quarter of an hour to go when Lloyd burst through and home lock Sean Moore was sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on five metres out.
The Steelmen kept knocking but another big opportunty was missed in the 71st minute with an overthrown lineout, with the Blue and Blacks almost going the length of the field on the counter-attack.
Ebbw had a chance to at least get a bonus at the death but instead the hosts again countered for ex-Dragons wing and Wales Sevens international Joe Goodchild to dive over on the right, a finish that had a hint of his cup-winning score against Newport.
