A SUPPORTER of Dragons RFC has died following a medical emergency outside Rodney Parade on Saturday.
The Dragons were defeated by South African club the Sharks 33-30 at Rodney Parade in their United Rugby Championship match.
However, there were tragic scenes outside the stadium just before the game which led to the death of a supporter.
In an official statement released on the club's website on Sunday morning, Dragons RFC confirmed the news.
A Dragons RFC statement read: "Dragons RFC is devastated to learn of the tragic passing of a supporter following a medical emergency outside Rodney Parade prior to Saturday’s fixture with Hollywoodbets Sharks.
"The club has contacted the supporter’s family to pass on our condolences and asks that they are given privacy to grieve privately.
"The thoughts of us all at Dragons RFC remain with the supporter’s family and friends at this desperately sad time."
A statement was also issued by the official BKT United Rugby Championship's social media account: "Our heart goes out to your supporter’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time."
