CAMERON Evans is in the running for League Two goal of the month for his superb strike in Newport County AFC's win against Crewe.
The 23-year-old defender, a summer signing after being with Taunton last season, scored his first EFL goal to get the Exiles on their way to victory at Rodney Parade.
County broke through Anthony Glennon, Aaron Wildig and Cameron Antwi before Evans took one touch and slammed in an unstoppable rising drive from outside the area into the top left corner.
It gave County the lead and they went on to record a morale-boosting 3-1 win.

“I’ve scored a couple in training and surprised myself, but I’ve never scored a goal like that on the big stage,” said Evans.
“I didn’t see the goal go in, in all honesty. I just struck it, looked up and next minute it was in the back of the net.”
The versatile defender is up against Notts County's David McGoldrick for his curled effort against Accrington, Gerard Garner's perfect lob for Barrow against Swindon and August winner Charles Vernam's powerful hit at Chesterfield for Grimsby.
Fans can vote for their favourite on efl.com before 5pm on Monday with the supporters' choices combined with the verdict of a panel.
