CHEPSTOW Boxing Club assistant coach Ryan Vaughan took his son Oliver to a show in Trowbridge on Sunday.
The club’s head coach Steve Woods said: “Oliver took on Trowbridge boxer Patrick Tomney, a rematch against one of only three boxers who have beaten him in his 18 bouts.
“Oliver won by a unanimous decision in what was possibly his best performance to date.
“Next weekend Oliver and clubmate Peter Mullane will box on the Pontyclun show.”
Woods also said the club has entered six members into the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs (NABGC) tournament being held at Caldicot Leisure Centre in the afternoon of November 9th.
“Winners of Welsh titles at the tournament will be invited to box in the Great Britain quarter finals,” he said.
“We have Codi Leamon (adult) who is in a Welsh semi final, Jay McCullagh (youth) Welsh quarter final, Terry Mullane (junior) in a Welsh semi final, Wilander Ordinado (junior) Welsh final.
“Patrick Mullane (junior) through to GB quarter final (Caldicot) and Karrell Islam (junior) who is also through to GB quarter finals,” he said.
“Only the GB quarter finals are in Caldicot, all the others will be boxed in Swansea and Port Talbot first.”
