Chepstow Boxing Club had seven boxers entered in the Warehouse Box Cup held at Neath Leisure Centre recently.
Terry Mullane was the first to represent the club, the only one who boxed on Friday, stopping his opponent, Connor Burton (Tylerstown) in round two with a 'close to perfect performance' according to the club’s head coach Steve Woods.
“On Saturday we had six boxers competing in a variety of categories,” he added.
“In the Schools category our boxer Peter Mullane had a unanimous verdict against Cai Thomas (Tylerstown) and in the Junior category Patrick Mullane was awarded a split decision victory over Alfie Norman from the Maerdy BC.
“Our Junior Karrell Islam beat Yahya Suleman (Grange) when the ref stopped the contest (RSC) in round 2.
“Another Junior Terry Mullane (Chepstow) won a unanimous verdict against Tommy Smith (Trowbridge).
“Youth Jay McCullagh (Chepstow) lost against Elliot Cameron (Wolves Den) by an RSC in round three and our elite boxer Scott Marchant (Chepstow) won by a split decision against Rydian Davies (Cwmavon Hornets).

“We brought home three gold medals and three silver medals. Every one of our team put in huge performances.
“Peter Mullane, Karrell Islam and Scott Marchant showed they are improving by all winning against opponents who have beaten them before.
“As always I'm very proud of the team. It's starting to feel like we are finally getting back to where we were before the covid lockdown.
"Then on Friday night we were at the Penryhoel boxing show in Swansea.
“Our 16-year-old boxer Michael Cleary took on Finley Erunjak of Trostre BC (Llanelli), two very big lads for their ages competing in a 100kg bout. Both put in a huge effort in a crowd-pleasing contest and Cleary - boxing in his first bout - took the win by a split decision.”
