Welsh racing driver Rhys Lloyd will compete in his second 24-hour race of the season in Spain.
Lloyd will drive a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup for French team SebLajoux Racing in the Michelin 24H Barcelona. The race takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from September 18 to September 20, 2026.
The event is regarded as one of the main endurance races on the Iberian Peninsula. It is also one of the most demanding races on the European calendar, with drivers and cars running through a full day and night.
Lloyd will share the Porsche with French driver Lionel Amrouche and Switzerland’s Yannick Mettler. The same three drivers competed together for SebLajoux Racing at the Michelin 12H Mugello in March, finishing sixth in class.
The unchanged line-up gives the crew more experience of working together before the bigger Barcelona race. Endurance teams must manage driver changes, tyre use, fuel, car reliability and pace over many hours.

"We understand the event will be really tough on the car and the drivers due to the heat and duration. There is also a fiercely competitive entry list with drivers converging on the prestige event from all around the world. This naturally makes it all the more of a challenge.
“Where Mugello was split across two segments totalling 12 hours, Barcelona demands a full 24 - a step up that places entirely different demands on tyre management, fuel strategy, mechanical reliability and driver stamina.”
The Barcelona event will be Lloyd’s second 24-hour race of the year. In January, he finished third in the GT4 class at the Dubai 24 Hours, completing the race after previously failing to reach the finish twice.
SebLajoux Racing was founded by driver Sébastien Lajoux. The team finished third overall in the 992 class at Mugello in 2025.
The 992 category is for Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. It forms part of the 24H Series European Series, organised by Dutch promoter Creventic. The series includes races lasting between six and 24 hours at circuits across Europe and the Middle East.
Barcelona has hosted the event since 1998. Since 2011, it has been co-organised by Creventic. The circuit at Montmeló measures 4.657 kilometres and has 14 corners.
The race is the final round of the European championship. Two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso competed in its first running.
Lloyd has competed in rallying, saloon cars, TCR and Britcar, as well as endurance racing. He received the Tom Pryce Trophy in 2007.
He is also the founder of Dragon Sport, a Carmarthen-based racing team and driver development scholarship.
