NEWPORT and Pontypool got off to winning starts in the Premiership this afternoon.
A try by replacement fly-half Chris Wannell in the tenth minute of injury time won it for the Black and Ambers 40-36.
Sam Waldron, Craig Hill, Pat Leach and Alan Awcock were their other scorers.
Pooler beat Bedwas 27-16 with Shaun Connor, Geraint Morris and Chris Macey crossing for tries.
Marcus Johnstone scored two tries but it wasn't enough to prevent Cross Keys losing 23-15 to Pontypridd at Sardis Road.
