CONNACHT coach Eric Elwood, who marked his first competitive game in charge with a bonus-point victory, claimed opponents often talk the Dragons down, though not understanding why.

“Everyone wants to get off to a good start, but the cream on the cake is the bonus point,” he said.

“We’ve got a good record against the Dragons, but I expected it to be closer all the same.

“I don’t understand why people underestimate the Dragons or talk them down, they’ve got some good players and a very good coach, we don’t take them for granted.

“But we got the dominance we were seeking and it couldn’t have been a better day for us.”

The Dragons will monitor the fitness of wing Aled Brew this week after he damaged his neck near the end of the game, requiring prolonged assistance before being taken off the field on a stretcher as referee James Jones ended the match two minutes early.

But Brew was sitting up in the dressing-room as full movement was restored, and the ambulance that attended to take him to hospital was not required and he was able to return home on schedule.

Skipper Tom Willis is doubtful for the Glasgow game, his rib injury still not quite right, but there is a chance scrum-half Wayne Evans will be back after suffering a leg injury in the friendly against London Irish last month.
