Chris Schramm has been enjoying his best run in the Elite League - but it will shortly come to an end.

He has already ridden five times for various clubs but because of the sport's rules he can only make one more appearance.

However, had Schramm signed as an official number eight for any team he could have appeared for them as many times as they needed him.

The in-demand Schramm has twice guested for Reading at Arena Essex and Poole, once for Swindon at Eastbourne and twice for Coventry, which included a paid five points from as many rides in a one-point defeat at Eastbourne.

This is the most Elite League meetings Schramm has ridden in one season and he said: "I do learn an awful lot because you are mixing with better riders.

"It is also valuable for Tim Stone (Newport promoter) because I had a good meeting at Eastbourne and that gives you added confidence when I rode at Newport the next day - and it goes on from there.

"Speedway wants to encourage British riders. I am only 22 and still up and coming and this ruling penalises me when I am trying to make the next staged. It's a shame."

- The Wasps next Premier League meeting is at Somerset on Friday night.

- Next summer's British Grand Prix will be held at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on June 30. And the organisers have confirmed that tickets bought before December 31 will be held at this year's GP prices.

John Postlethwaite, chief executive of British Speedway International, said: "It will be our seventh consecutive year at the Millennium Stadium and each time the event gets bigger and better."

- Niels-Kristian Iversen, former Wasps rider, joint top scored on 14 in Peterborough's home 61-32 Elite League demolition of Eastbourne this week.

- The Southern Track Riders Association are holding a meeting at Newport's Hayley Stadium on Sunday (midday start).
