WALES lock Bradley Davies has been cited for the tip tackle on Ireland’s Donnacha Ryan that saw him sin-binned at the Aviva Stadium yesterday.

Head coach Warren Gatland said he understood the player had been cited by Italian citing commissioner Achille Reali.

The incident happened in the 65th minute of Wales’ superb 21-23 last-gasp victory and earned a yellow card from referee Wayne Barnes.

Gatland said he believed the second row should have been given a red card for the offence.

"I think there's intent and if you look at that and ask me, there's definitely an intent in there," he said.

"So I wouldn't argue with the decision of that being given a red card."

If Davies receives a ban, as seems likely, Wales will have a selection headache in the second row, Dragon Luke Charteris and Alun Wyn Jones already out, albeit that the latter is close to a return.

Wales could move Ryan Jones to the second row with returning Dragon Dan Lydiate resuming his role at blindside flanker, or bring in Scarlets lock Lou Reed.
