BRITISH Lionhearts enjoyed a superb come-from-behind victory in their World Series of Boxing match at the Newport Centre tonight.
They trailed the France Fighting Roosters 2-0 in the best-of-five bout encounter, before storming back to claim a 3-2 success and top the competition’s European group.
In winning, the Lionhearts also avenged a narrow defeat to the French outfit earlier in the season.
The hosts got off to the worst possible start when both Will Cawley and Dzmitry Asanau lost their fights against Daniel Asenov and Sofiane Oumiha respectively.
But Carl Fail halved the deficit by beating Kevin Julien Bertogal and Joseph Ward knocked out Bakary Diabira to level the scores.
And it was left to Solomon Dacres to record a sensational win for Rob McCracken’s Lionhearts, with the former outpointing Mihai Nistor to complete the comeback.
