TWO-WEIGHT world champion boxer Joe Calzaghe has become the latest high-profile Welsh sportsman to lend his support to back-to-back concerts at the SSE SWALEC in Cardiff this weekend.

Calzaghe was undefeated in 46 professional fights and will step on to the pitch at Cardiff’s premier cricket venue along with thousands of music fans as The Kaiser Chiefs, Dizzee Rascal and Everything Everything headline Saturday’s gig before Simply Red, Nathan Ball and Ben Montague take to the stage on Sunday.

“I’ve always been a big music fan and it’s great to support events like this taking place in Wales,” said Calzaghe.

“I’m particularly looking forward to seeing the Kaiser Chiefs who I’ve been a fan of for a long time.

“There’s something special about outdoor gigs and it looks like the sun will be shining on The SSE SWALEC for the entire weekend.”

Calzaghe will be joined by a host of Welsh sportsmen at the event including rugby stars Rob Evans, Bradley Davies, Tom James, Lloyd Williams and Aled Davies.

Event promoters have also issued an invitation to footballing hero Neil Taylor, who was forced to miss the Beyonce concert at Principality Stadium as Wales progressed to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Tickets for both concerts remain on general sale from glamorgancricket.com/tickets and will remain on general sale from the SSE SWALEC box office for those wishing to pay on the day.
