YOUNG trio Lewis Bamford, Dafydd Jones and Ben Jones will leave Newport County AFC when their deals expire in January, boss Graham Westley has revealed.

The club announced in May that the triumvirate had all graduated from the County academy and signed six-month professional contracts.

None of the three have managed to force their way into the first team reckoning, although Dafydd Jones was an unused substitute for the first game of the season against Mansfield.

He was then sent out on loan to Welsh League side Monmouth Town at the end of August.

“They will depart at the end of their contracts and are looking for something new as we speak,” said Westley.

“Once the window opens we can really start to add some strength and we’ve created a little bit of room already.

“There are one or two young lads who are going to depart when their contracts expire in January to create a little bit of financial room, and Jon Parkin has already moved on to York.

“Hopefully with some of the cup funds that we’ve already generated, and hopefully some that we continue to generate, we’ll be in a position where we can move one or two bits to really kick us on in the new year.”
