NEWPORT County AFC have announced the signing of Swansea City right-back Tyler Reid on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old, who has played against County in the Checkatrade Trophy in the last two years, is available to make his debut in tomorrow's FA Cup third round tie against Leeds United at Rodney Parade.

Reid started his career at hometown club Luton Town before moving on to Arsenal and then Manchester United.

Aged 14 he joined United’s scholarship programme and worked under the guidance of club legend Nicky Butt.

In 2016 he moved to Swansea and has impressed in the club's under-23 side in the last two seasons.

Reid is described as a quick, powerful full-back who likes to get forward as well as defend.

On completing the deal, Exiles boss Michael Flynn said: “This is a big signing for us and only made possible by our close relationship with Swansea.

"Tyler was obviously brought up the Manchester United way so has a very high pedigree and I’m really looking forward to him showing what he’s got in his locker and helping us on our journey.”
