Hospice of the Valleys provides, specialist palliative care to the people of Blaenau Gwent. Established in Tredegar in 1991 the charity has grown and developed over the years and is now the preferred provider of specialist palliative care in Blaenau Gwent for Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The care and support the charity provides is bespoke to each patients needs and is provided free of charge. The charities specialist palliative care services include an out-patient department, Hospice at Home, bereavement care and complementary therapy.

In 2016-2017 the hospice provided care for 612 patients, an increase of 20 per cent on the previous year.

To provide these services free of charge the hospice needs to raise over
£1.3 million pounds a year.

The grotto will officially be open from December 1 and will run right through until Christmas Eve.
