Bubble Trouble is the brainchild of couple and business partners Gergely Klusoczki and Judit Szanto.

Located within the Kingsway Shopping Centre, the pair offer a very unique drink in the form of iced teas and milkshakes.

This one-of-a-kind drink originates from Taiwan in the early 1980s and quickly became incredibly popular in Asia and then Australia, before reaching across to America and later Europe.

The couple were first introduced to bubble teas whilst living in London four years ago, and after a career change, plus moving to Newport, they decided to open their own store.

Juice-filled, popping boba capsules can be added to a variety of flavoured teas and milks, ranging from strawberry and pineapple to more exotic flavours like green matcha and lychee.

Customers can choose either fruit tea (maximum of three flavours) or milkshake (maximum of two flavours) then opt to add extra toppings of crunchy jelly, popping boba, and tapioca pearls at 50p per Bubble tea and milkshake business is doing a roaring trade in Newport scoop – the first scoop of tapioca pearls is free!

With so many different flavours to choose from, the possibilities are almost endless, with no two drinks ever being the same.

Bubble teas are priced from £3.25 for a 475ml cup, which is shaken like a cocktail and sealed to take away. An extra-large straw is provided so that you can suck the pearls, boba and jelly up into your mouth to pop, chew and enjoy the unique blend of flavours.

Bubble Trouble is the first of its kind in Newport and has already been a huge hit with the Asian community, as they are already familiar with this novel drink – an Assam White tea is the original Taiwanese beverage that started the craze almost 40 years ago.

“Many people assume that the name bubble tea takes after the pearls,” Gergely tells Voice. “But in fact, it is from the bubble foam that forms on the top of the drink from shaking it and not the pearls that rest on the bottom.”

Bubble teas are vegan-friendly, but the milkshakes of course are not. They can also be a low-calorie drink and can be used as an energy boost drink when visiting the gym and, as they are completely sealed they can be enjoyed straight away or after your work out. Bubble Trouble is open seven days a week from 10am until 5:30pm Monday to Saturday, and from 11am until 4pm on Sunday.

Why not pop in today to try this exclusive drink to Newport – it’s nothing like you’ve ever tried before!
