There’s a wonderful new addition to the already incredibly popular Labels Shopping of Ross-onWye, which comes in the form of a state-of-theart cinema.

Aptly named The Gateway (as the mall’s location is known as the gateway to Wales), this independent cinema, which is located on the upper ground floor, seats 34 movie goers on a variety of differently sized luxury sofas and features a high-quality surround sound system and high definition big screen.

Tickets are priced at £9 for an adult, £8 for children under the age of 14, and £4 for children under the age of three.

The cinema officially opened its doors to the public on November 1, 2018, hosting a VIP evening with Rugby Star Phil Vickery.

It has already received amazing feedback from locals of Ross on Wye – with sold out performances in December, including a live screening of The Nutcracker from The Royal Opera House, classic Christmas film Love Actually and also of the popular musical, The Greatest Showman.

One of the huge draws to the cinema is that it shows a wide range of films, such as classics of the silver screen, like Singin’ in the Rain and Some Like it Hot, right up to modern day blockbusters like Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, so people can enjoy cult classics and movies that they may have missed the first time around when originally released.

At least once a month, the cinema additionally shows live screenings from the Royal Opera House including ballets and operas such as Don Quixote and La Traviata.

The Gateway is currently open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as offering Saturday matinees too.

Film lovers can enjoy a pre-drink from its fully licensed bar, offering an extensive range of alcoholic, soft and hot drinks, including gin and tonics, Bacardi and prosecco.

If you’re in the mood for something a little more than a drink, why not enjoy one of the freshly prepared meals that are available? Dishes such as traditional fish and chips, gourmet burgers, sharing platters, and snacks are on the menu, as well as a selection of desserts and puddings including its immensely popular chocolate fudge brownie sundae.

The cinema is also available for private hire, including birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions, where you’re able to choose from a wide selection of films and food offerings. Call for more details.

During the February half term and for Easter, The Gateway will be showing a range of films aimed at smaller children, as well as introducing sensory showings for toddlers.

Check the website and social media to see what’s showing this February.

Bookings and tickets can be bought by calling 01989 552 166 or by in-store – moving forward an online booking system will be up and running within the next few months, as well expanding the capacity within the cinema with more seating.

So, if you’re looking for a cinema with a difference, where you can snuggle up on the sofa to watch a film on the big screen, why not pay The Gateway at Labels Shopping a visit? Voice highly recommends that you do!
