There is a new landlord at the Rock and Fountain of Penhow, Mark Duthie of Duthie Transport. Mark is no stranger when it comes to running a successful business, as his transport company has been well-established for more than two decades, transporting goods all across the UK and also Europe.

Regulars will be pleased to know that Mark won’t be changing too much now that he’s taken over, and the two courses for £12 set menu will still be served all day every day.

The theme of the restaurant will still be the same – great quality dishes that are served at fantastic value for money, but with Mark and his team putting their own individual stamp on the business.

To keep the food served consistent, Mark has kept the previous head chef and his team but has refreshed the management and front of house staff to lead the Rock and Fountain into an exciting new direction.

The head chef has taken the menu back to basics, focussing on what they do best – offering exceptional food, with steaks playing a prominent role on the menu so that you can be assured that there’s always something to sink your teeth into.

As well as offering two courses for £12 (starter and a main or main and dessert), you can now also get the full three courses for £16.95. You will also find daily specials individually priced on the chalk boards.

This is where the chefs get to show off their culinary skills by offering something a little different to the norm This unbeatable meal deal is available all day every day from noon until 9pm Monday to Saturday.

Sunday lunch is served from noon until 6pm and is also priced at £12 for two courses. There is always a variety of roasts to choose from, and also a vegetarian and fish dish, but in what guise we don’t know? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s by popping along this Sunday.

The Rock and Fountain also makes full use of the many beautiful rooms that the wonderful building has to offer, with the library being used as a private room for parties and special occasions, plus a sizeable function room on the first floor, which can easily seat up to 60 people for wedding receptions and other events.

Call for more details and date availability. Mark is also planning to hold a wide variety of events throughout the year at The Rock, so keep your eyes peeled on the Facebook page to see what’s coming up and how you can get involved.
