Fans snap up Wembley tickets

First published in News by

SWINDON Town have confirmed that over 1,300 tickets have been sold for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final within the first hour of them going on sale this morning.

Not surprised about Magera - with Benson's move (and fantastic work rate, and goal to game ratio) there's even less prospects of him getting a game for us now - better to have him off the books for his own sake as well as ours. Best of luck,

Online site did not start until 9.15 and was taken down at 9.25 as there was no provision to book any Concession tickets.
Finally got through on the phone at 9.50 (from 9.01)and had my allocation at 10.00 exactly.
Still think that a better system could be introduced, or more staff on the phones.
Who makes the money out of the phone calls(10p per min) PLUS a booking fee per ticket which is not given on the STFC website.
£40,000 to £60,000 income to someone just to sell the tickets

Have not managed to get tickets yet. When I put in my season ticket number and surname, it flags up as "incorrect data". In case it was just my number, tried again with my son in law's number, but again saying info is incorrect. Anyone else got the same message or any ideas. Tried the phone-line at 10p a minute. 20 mins later still no answer.

Not sure what people expect sometime - if everyone rushes to get tickets as soon as it opens there will be a queue!
.
Even ticketmaster crashed when Michael Jackson went on sale and they are the main player in ticketing!
.
4,750 ST holders at 5 each means max of 23,750 tickets - that would leave 6,850 from our initial allocation
.
So plenty to go round - especially as there is a week before general sale
.
As said only 1,300 sold - so that is 29,300 left
.
I doubt 23,000 will be snapped up by the ST holders anyway - but if they were - a figure of 36,000 has already been mooted - giving 12,000 for General Sale
.
Again plenty - considering our biggest gate this tear has been 13,000 STFC fans!!!
.
Also I'm sure that would probably be increased again if demand is there Saints got 44,000 after all!

What's sad is that there has to be a 'singing' section at all. There was no lack of noise in 1993 when I first saw Town at Wembley, unlike in 2010.

On the plus side, the atmosphere home and away is better now than it has been for years. Our end will be rocking.

MITTED,

Ignore the link (helpfully) put up by Gary Rose on this thread and go to the Official STFC website. On the page "Wembley Tickets Go On Sale" you will find a link that takes you straight to the ticket booking site. You'll need to have your season ticket number handy (and watch out for the timer). Good luck!

So plenty to go round - especially as there is a week before general sale . As said only 1,300 sold - so that is 29,300 left . I doubt 23,000 will be snapped up by the ST holders anyway - but if they were - a figure of 36,000 has already been mooted - giving 12,000 for General Sale . Again plenty - considering our biggest gate this tear has been 13,000 STFC fans!!! . Also I'm sure that would probably be increased again if demand is there Saints got 44,000 after all!
Everyone who wanted a ticket in 1969, 1990, 1993 and 2010 could get one easily enough, so you're right - there's hardly going to be a shortage this time when the stadium will be barely half full.
.
I do have concerns about the ticket system though. Calls are charged at 10 pence per minute. I'm not sure whether the minimum cost is 10 pence. If so, someone is making a heck of a lot of money out of "Sorry, all our operators are busy, please try later". I eventually got mine online, at an additional cost of £10 for booking fees and postage. I am sure the club could have sold some tickets by internet / phone and some in person at the County Ground. If they could cope with selling 30,000 odd tickets at the ground in 1969, I'm sure they could sell a few thousand that way in 2012.

Not really sad! there are many that don't want to be within a million miles of the inane "singing" if you can call it that. I'm so not bothered about the bog-roll cup I'm not even going the Shi'ite "new Wembley" with it's rip off prices for "food" and beer. Just off to get my ticket for tonight though! far more important than the pi$s pot.
My opinion of the new stadium is that although pricey, it's reasonably good value as the produce is pretty good quality. Aside from that they're recouping the building costs and will be for some time so it's only to be expected. May not like it, but as a consumer you have the choice not to purchase, on which note...

Was it really necessary to come on a thread about the cup game (which by your own admission you're not interested in - though interested enough to comment it seems) just to rain on everyone else's parade?

Got mine - eventually.
Must be selling well as a couple of zones are not available already it would seem as they're not on the list via the web booking site. I had 5 goes at trying to find 3 seats in a row selected.
Some 'issues', though I do understand not of the clubs making. No proper seat plan available to see where seats are located, just the block. Kept timing out before I'd finished booking. £3.25 PER TICKET booking fee plus p/p is a rip-off. Not taking ang youngsters but didn't see any childs tickets bookable on line. That'd be a problem for some I'm sure.

COYR!
Over 4,000 sold at 2pm.

The reason the online site went down was because it didn't allow concessions, only full price tickets.
The site was not tested properly before going live so the had to take it down.
I have been assured it is working ok now.
The booking fee is excessive, but everyone knows that £4 or £5 on top of the ticket is not really going to put anyone off.

£100,000 + is not a bad commission for handling the sales.

I would highly recommened Gary's Twitter feeds - all you need is Twitter, and to follow Gary Rose.

Other than that its the STFC player, or some dodgy internet feed via somewhere in the world no one has ever heard of!

Couldn't book tickets online for the family area blocks so an 8 minute phone call and all was done. Had a laugh with the lady taking the booking when she asked if I wanted any lottery tickets at £5 each, as if the added costs aren't enough already.
Managed to get 6 seats together in block 140.
Now to re-mortgage to pay for the coach seats which seem a little high at £20 per adult when it was only about £13 to Barnet but I guess it's all about supply and demand and a trip to Wembley is a rare chance for many to make a few extra quid.

Called at 5pm today and straight through Coach seats booked so that's it all done and parking in the Green Man pub which two years ago was just a fantastic atmosphere and was rocking. I'm so not bothered about the bog-roll cup I'm not even going the Shi'ite "new Wembley" with it's rip off prices for "food" and beer. Just off to get my ticket for tonight though! far more important than the pi$s pot.[/p]
you really are a sad old git Malkym!! I sing my till my voice is horse every game and if people don't like to be next to me then they can either move away or not come at all. A loyal football supporter actually gets behind the players, cheers them on, sings our club songs and shouts abuse at the referee!! SWINDON TILL I DIE, IM SWINDON TILL I DIE, I KNOW I AM IM SURE I AM IM SWINDON TILL I DIE!!!![/p]
Spot on stfcknowitall a true fan will go to every game they can and sing their heart out OK many fans dont sing and may be annoyed that they are surrounded by them - that is why we have set up singing areas Glad your sorted Mikek - will be in block 249 bouncing `WE ARE PAULOS RED AND WHITE ARMY`- swidonpremiership
