A man is due in court after police received reports he was seen in a North-East street with a sword.
Mark Manuel, 25, of Kelso Place, Gateshead has been charged with possessing a pointed article, common assault and criminal damage.
The incident on Barry Street, Gateshead happened just after 9.35pm, on Friday.
Officers attended the scene where the man was located and detained.
A sword was recovered by police nearby and a bottle containing clear liquid, believed to be ammonia, was also seized.
He will appear before Gateshead Magistrates' Court on Monday.
