TWO climbers died yesterday after falling more than 200 feet in

Snowdonia.

The men, both in their mid-20s, were scaling Lliwedd, the neighbouring

peak to Mount Snowdon, when they fell yesterday.

They were left suspended from their climbing rope on the near-vertical

rock face.

Onlookers saw the lead climber break away from the face and fall,

attached to his rope. As his companion took the impact of the fall, he

was also pulled from the face.

The bodies were taken from the face by a helicopter from RAF Valley in

Anglesey after rescue team climbers had lowered them to a more

accessible area.

They were taken to Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor.
