THE weekend is here at last, with a whole host of entertainment and activities on offer throughout Gwent over the next few days.

• For those looking for a treat treat, why not check out the Valentine’s Burlesque in a city centre venue?

Tonight, the Electric Burlesque is returning to Newport’s The Neon, on Clarence Place, in association with Cardiff Cabaret Club.

Suitable for those ages 18 and over, this evening will be hosted by redhead Miss Cherry Bomb and star popular cabaret acts, including: Danny Ash, Oola Pearl, Schnitzel Von Krumpet, FooFooLaBelle, Hadria Hellbound and dancers from Cardiff Cabaret Club.

• This weekend is also your last chance to see an award-winning play at Dolman Theatre.

Table Five, by Kevin Myers of Newport Playgoers Society, was a huge hit when it was first staged, based on Table Five at a wedding, jam-packed with debauchery and drama.

It was highly commended by the Gwent One-Act Festival adjudicator and won the Drama Association of Wales prize for the ‘Best Original Script of 2018.’

The production has returned, with an exciting additional act added, giving the audience the chance to learn more about the characters.

Table Five will be at Dolman Theatre tonight, at 7.15pm, with the final showing at 2.30pm tomorrow [Saturday].

• For those hoping to dance the night away, why not check out Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band?

The superstars will take centre stage at The Parkway Hotel & Spa in Cwmbran, from 7.30pm this Saturday, rocking out until late, followed by a DJ to end the evening.

Alternatively, if you’d like an extra special treat, spend the night in one of the venue’s luxurious bedrooms, with bed and breakfast plus two tickets to the show. This is £120 per room, per night.

• 'Port Electro night club night is returning, hosting an array of 70s, 80s and 90s electro and alternative music.

Taking place at Pen & Wig, in Newport, this Saturday the evening of entertainment will raise money for British Heart Foundation, with a minimum donation of £3.

The fun starts at 8pm, going on until 1am, and will feature a huge range of awesome tracks, so dust off your dance shoes and get ready to party!

• The first South Wales flower show by Alpine Garden Society is taking place this weekend.

The show is this Sunday at Caerleon Community College, from 10.30am to 3.30pm, with a selection of beautiful alpine plants on display and for sale.

Nurseries featured at this show include: Aberconwy, Heartsease Plants, Ivy Croft, Jacques Amand. Old Court Nurseries & Picton Garden, Pottertons Nursery, and Sir Gar Plants.

Entry is £2.50, with children (accompanied by an adult) free. It is free for member’s of Alpine Garden Society.
