A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

JOSHUA MORGAN, 26, of Ashgrove, Llanmartin, Newport, was banned from driving for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with cannabis derivative delta-9-tetrahydrocannibol in his blood at Magor Services on the M4 on March 21.

He was ordered to pay £525 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

MATTHEW RICHARD HEWER, 36, of Barn Close, Trevethin, Pontypool, was banned from driving for three years after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with cocaine in his blood on Hafren Road, Thornhill, Cwmbran, on March 27.

He was ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

MARCUS JUSTIN WHITTON, 47, of Cefn Adda Close, Newport, was ordered to pay £1,320.71 in compensation after he admitted stealing 24 packets of CBD oil from Holland & Barrett on July 8.

He was also sentenced to a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement.

SADIKUR RAHMAN, 24, of Dolphin Street, Newport, was banned from driving for 24 months after he pleaded guilty to two counts of drug driving with cannabis derivative delta-9-tetrahydrocannibol in his blood on Talbot Lane on March 9 and Clarence Place on March 30.

He was ordered to pay £241 in fines, costs and a surcharge.

BEN MORGAN, 35, of Gainsborough Road, Cefn Golau, Tredegar, was jailed for 18 weeks after he admitted failing to provide a specimen and driving whilst disqualified on January 25.

He was banned from driving for 40 months.

DEBORAH JONES, 42, of Hawkins Crescent, Newport, was banned from driving for 12 months after she pleaded guilty to drug driving with cocaine in her blood on Cromwell Road on March 8.

She was ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

JASON DAVIES, 35, of Usk View, Govilon, near Abergavenny, was banned from driving for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with amphetamine and cannabis derivative delta-9-tetrahydrocannibol in his blood on the A465 eastbound on-slip road at Llanfoist on March 22.

He was ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

STUART WILSON, 22, of Bryn Golau, Bedwas, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he admitted public disorder on Pontygwindy Road on August 27.

JOHN GUYTON, 26, of Wye Crescent, Bettws, Newport, was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, after he admitted driving whilst disqualified on Beatty Road on August 14.

He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, banned from driving for three years and told to pay £213 in costs and a surcharge.

DAVID RHYS GRIFFITHS, 32, of Brynheulog Terrace, Llanhilleth, was banned from driving for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving with 53 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on Vivian Street, Abertillery, on August 27.

He was ordered to pay £470 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

OWAIN LLOYD CARTER, 39, of Central Avenue, Oakdale, near Blackwood, was banned from driving for 17 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving with 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on Caerphilly Road, Ystrad Mynach, on August 28.

He was ordered to pay £580 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

STEPHEN MICHAEL DAVID SHAW, 30, of Laburnum Drive, Newport, banned from driving for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with cannabis derivative delta-9-tetrahydrocannibol in his blood on Beatty Road on March 24.

He was ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
