A GWENT region has recorded one of the lowest Covid case rates in Wales for a second day running.

Blaenau Gwent – which yesterday recorded the fewest new cases of Covid – has recorded the third lowest in Wales according to today’s Public Health Wales statistics.

418 cases have been recorded in Gwent, out of 2,047 in Wales. 30 of these were in Blaenau Gwent, which sits just ahead of Ceredigion on 26 and Merthyr Tydfil on 18 as the lowest cases in Wales.

124 new cases were recorded in Caerphilly, 104 in Torfaen, 85 in Newport and 75 in Monmouthshire.

There was just one newly recorded death in today’s statistics and it was not recorded in the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board region. The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s death total according to Public Health Wales remains at 1,022. Wales’ single new death brings the region’s total to 5,974 according to Public Health Wales’ latest statistics.
