Michael Pipe

Two drug dealers were flooding the streets of Gwent with amphetamine after it was being shipped into South Wales from Liverpool.

Michael Pipe was a “junior partner” in a crime gang selling the speed while Matthew Heyes acted as a courier driving from Merseyside to pick up the profits.

Pipe, 30, from Bedwas, Caerphilly, was jailed for four years and Heyes, 38, from Aughton, West Lancashire, for three years.

Finn Church

Armed robber Finn Church threatened to slice a terrified shopworker’s throat and kill him with a 12-inch knife.

The privately educated 20-year-old ripped off a Perspex screen at the till as he held up the One Stop store in Monmouth town centre.

Church was sent to a young offender institution for three years.

Darren Thomas

Gunman Darren Thomas shot a 75-year-old woman with a pellet gun before opening fire on a dog walker as he selected victims at random from his bedroom window.

When police went to arrest him, the defendant, 49, was naked when he answered the door.

Thomas, from Caerphilly, was jailed for 32 months.

Ryan Masters

Ryan Masters smashed up his ex-girlfriend’s home with a hammer while her two youngest children were inside the house.

The 29-year-old from Caerphilly flew into a rage when she did not answer his phone calls after buying her a bracelet as a Valentine’s Day gift.

Masters, who was convicted of a string of offences, was jailed for three years.

Benjamin Mathews

A burglar high on drink or drugs was caught by his victim going through a jewellery box before being marched out of his home.

Benjamin Mathews was confronted after he had broken into a house on Newport’s Gordon Street during the early hours of the morning.

The defendant, 42, from Newport, a third-strike burglar, was jailed for three years.
