A BRIEF power cut has hit across Gwent – right on Hallowe’en, giving a number of people a good old fright.
Reports have come in from social media users that the power cut – which lasted for just a few seconds – hit in Newport, Risca, Pontypool, Chepstow, Monmouth, Ystrad Mynach and as far afield as Bristol, Barry, Pontypridd, Port Talbot and Llanelli.

Western Power Distribution hasn’t registered the power cut on their power outage map – most likely due to how quickly the power returned. However, their official Twitter page responded to a query saying that they didn’t know what caused the issue, but engineers have restored power.
Hello, yes sorry for the disruption. We don't know the cause yet. but engineers have now restored power
